The problem with Facebook Flyer Pro advertising

I am dying to try the Facebook Flyer Pro advertising with a chance to set some targeted adverts on Facebook and only pay for the click-throughs. Starting at approx 5p per click (10ยข) it seems a great platform to experiment with.

Facebook Flyer Pro allows for a different type of targeted advert than Google pay-per-click (currently) inasmuch that is profile related rather than search ‘keyword’ related’ (see diagram).

The problem is, and it’s a known problem (I had a reply to my querying e-mail), the Facebook system simply won’t accept a credit card coming up with a ‘field entry’ error on the entry page - one after the other - and I know my card is okay.

I am assuming it’s a UK problem as Rod on Innovation Creators talks about his experience with the platform (he might not have used Pro but I can’t get that to work either).

Come on Facebook - sort it out - I have dollars to give you.

I certainly did not use Pro. Is it new?

I was given really limited targeting abilities. What network, what age, and I think, what gender. The age ranges were limited too. And no workplace.

The form you show above is way cooler. And I think it would be much more effective.

Hi Rod, I think it may be new (as in a few weeks old). Access it the same as the Flyers but they have a little heading off to Flyers Pro now.

I’m itching to try this out too. I’ve noticed a few popping up here and there making a refreshing change from the ads for phone smileys etc.

I wrote and asked one flyer advertiser how effective he thought it was and got a quick reply: not very effective. But then he was selling e-Office space and perhaps the market for that is limited.

It certainly caught my attention, the format that is.

Agreed Garri, I can only really see the use for consumer markets. As popular as Facebook is, the key users are still going to be the same (I think) as the Myspace users, etc. and B2B won’t work.

The sponsored polls is an interesting idea too.
I’ve just watched the video on the FB developers section.

Fascinating stuff, the figures are quite staggering. They’ve surpassed eBay in visitor numbers and have set their sight on overtaking Google.

I was reading somewhere recently that FB has 60 million users, compared with Google mail’s 79 million. I know they’re different things but how long has Facebook been going?

The secret lies in their ’social graph’, apparently ;-)
